Canada Construction Market Size, Trends and Sector Forecast to 2030
With Canada’s construction industry projected to grow by 2.6% in 2026 and an average of 2.8% each year through 2030, we’re seeing strong momentum, fueled by both residential and non-residential investments. It’s encouraging to see government funding flowing into renewable energy, infrastructure, mining, and affordable housing—all of which shape the communities we live in and call home. Having lived and worked in Maple Ridge for over 30 years, I see firsthand how these investments impact our neighborhoods and create new opportunities for homeowners, buyers, and investors. Whether you’re considering your next move or looking at long-term plans, understanding these trends can help you make informed real estate decisions that reflect your goals and our community’s future.

A little look at a wonderful evening filled with connection, laughter, and appreciation!

This Fall, Jan and I had the pleasure of hosting our Annual Client Appreciation Event at Cheesecrafters in Maple Ridge, bringing together past and current clients, friends, and family for an amazing evening.

Looking through these photos brings back such wonderful memories, and we feel truly honoured and grateful to everyone who was able to join us. Real estate has always been about so much more than buying and selling homes. It’s about the relationships we build, the trust you place in us, and the friendships that grow along the way.

To those who couldn’t make it, we completely understand that life gets busy. You were certainly missed, and we hope to see you at another gathering soon.

A heartfelt thank-you to our four wonderful sponsors, Kurt Hebel, Cheri Hamm, Lucy Meechan, and Marcella Shockey. Your generosity and support helped make this evening possible, and we are so grateful to have you as part of it.

From Jan and myself, thank you for being part of our lives and our real estate community. Whether we’ve helped you find a home, are currently working together, have shared years of friendship, or are connected through family, please know how much you mean to us. Your trust, support, referrals, and friendship are never taken for granted.

Here’s to wonderful people, meaningful connections, and many more opportunities to gather and celebrate together! ❤️

Vancouver, Fraser Valley Homebuyers Enjoy More Choices in September
September brought a noticeable cooling to the Vancouver and Fraser Valley housing markets. Home sales slipped—Metro Vancouver saw an 8.4% dip, while the Fraser Valley was down 4%. Apartments were especially affected, with sales dropping 18.6%. Prices also adjusted, with Metro Vancouver down 5.5% and Fraser Valley down 7%, as inventory remains high and buyers take a more cautious approach.

Having lived and worked in Ridge Meadows for over 30 years, I’ve seen firsthand how our market ebbs and flows. It’s times like these that highlight the importance of local insight and a client-focused strategy. Whether you’re considering your next move or just want to understand what these shifts mean for your plans, I’m here to offer guidance tailored to your goals—always with care and transparency.

Fort St. John home prices climb despite slower sales, real estate board says
Even as sales activity slowed slightly in Northeast B.C., home prices in Fort St. John continued to climb. The area saw 541 sales this year, totaling $244.9 million, and the average detached home price now sits at $452,083, with 412 homes currently listed. Meanwhile, Fort Nelson recorded 43 sales worth $7.3 million, with 100 listings available. Across Northern B.C., the market reached 3,654 sales, adding up to $1.6 billion.

As someone who believes in transparent guidance and a client-first approach, it’s important to understand how these numbers reflect the unique dynamics of each community. Whether you’re considering your next move or simply keeping an eye on market trends, a deeper understanding of local shifts—like these resilient price points—can help you make the right decision for your family’s future.

Canada's MLS® HPI Tracks Home Price Trends
Having called Maple Ridge home for more than three decades, I know how much local market shifts matter to your real estate decisions. That’s why I rely on tools like Canada’s MLS® Home Price Index (HPI), which goes far beyond average or median prices by tracking how buyers actually value home features right here in our neighborhoods. With over 20 years of detailed listing data, this index defines what a ‘typical’ home looks like in each area, so we can make true apples-to-apples comparisons—no guesswork, just clarity. This means I can share real, steady insights into price trends across Ridge Meadows, helping you understand the context behind every number and make fully informed choices about your next move. My approach is always personalized, transparent, and rooted in the local experience I’ve gained over the years—so you’re empowered with the best possible information, every step of the way.

Bank of Canada's new forecasting model zeroes in on mortgage renewals
The Bank of Canada has introduced its Prima model, which brings renewed focus to mortgage renewals and housing supply—critical pieces in understanding inflation and shaping policy. As someone who’s spent decades helping clients navigate home ownership in Ridge Meadows, I know how closely these factors can impact both the market and our day-to-day lives. This shift highlights just how interconnected our local real estate landscape is with broader economic trends. It’s another reminder of why staying informed and having the right guidance can make all the difference when you’re making decisions about your home.

Canada Housing Starts Trend Down 1.3%
We’re seeing a subtle but important shift in Canada’s housing landscape: the six-month housing starts trend dipped by about 1% month-over-month in mid-Q3, settling around 244,000 annualized units. Actual starts in larger centres reached 17,700—down 2% year-over-year—bringing us to 149,500 for the first eight months of this year, a 4% decrease. For those keeping an eye on Maple Ridge and similar communities, homes under construction in cities over 50,000 population edged just under 1% lower, yet the pipeline remains significant at 371,700 units. Completions slowed more sharply, dropping 11% to 17,600, while approved permits not yet started inched up slightly to 142,400. Although housing starts are still elevated compared to previous years, the trend is moderating as we head toward year-end.

Having helped many clients navigate changing markets here in Ridge Meadows, I know how important it is to understand both the numbers and the story behind them. Whether you’re thinking about a move or planning your next investment, staying informed is the first step toward making confident decisions.
