Excited for another year of hockey!

Here you have it! Your 2026-2027 Junior Whalers Roster!

We are beyond thrilled to invite so many new families into the Junior Whaler Organization this year! 16 players - from 9 different communities across the SE is something we are extremely proud of!

A good mix of 2017 and 2016 born players - all with the same goal in mind - incredible skill, great work ethic, and even better attitudes, personalities and families behind them! It is sure to be an awesome season.

We would love to throw recognition to our awesome panel of evaluators that worked tirelessly all weekend ensuring every kid had a fair look in both skills and games! Almost 10 hours of evaluating over 40 kids is a hefty ask, and they didn’t complain once. Thank you!

And even more recognition and appreciation goes out to our first set of major sponsors for the season!

Platinum Sponsor:
🫍 Borderland CO-OP has sponsored all of our team jerseys for this upcoming season!
🫍 Western Propsects Hockey Development has sponsored all of our conditioning skates, try out weekend, and jerseys for the second year in a row!

Why Home Inspections Help REALTORS®:
1 Reducing unexpected post-closing issues.
2. Supporting informed purchasing decisions.
3. Providing documented, independent observations.
4. Helping identify safety concerns before closing.
5. Reducing the likelihood of disputes.
6. Demonstrating that the REALTOR® encouraged appropriate due diligence.

To reduce risk, REALTORS® should:
1. Recommend a CAHPI Home Inspector.
2. Encourage clients to use qualified, insured CAHPI inspectors.
3. Document all discussions about inspection recommendations or waivers.
4. Avoid commenting on the condition of building systems outside their expertise.
5. Record in writing when a client chooses to waive an inspection despite being advised of the risks.

A properly conducted home inspection is not a guarantee that every defect will be found, but it is one of the most effective risk-management tools available during a real estate transaction.

CAHPI Home Inspectors help buyers make informed decisions while also helping REALTORS® demonstrate that they exercised appropriate professional care.

🚨 New Provincial Law to Help Protect Saskatchewan Residents from Carbon Monoxide 🚨

The Province of Saskatchewan has introduced Henry's Law, a new regulation aimed at increasing protection from the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) in homes across the province.

Beginning November 1, 2026, all residential suites or units where someone sleeps will be required to have a working carbon monoxide alarm. This includes:
🏠 Single-family homes with secondary suites
🏢 Apartments
🏘️ Condominiums
🏡 Multi-unit residential buildings

Carbon monoxide is an invisible, odourless, and poisonous gas that can be produced by fuel-burning appliances such as furnaces, fireplaces, water heaters, and gas stoves. Without a working CO alarm, exposure can lead to serious illness or even death.
This new legislation is named in memory of Henry Losco, whose tragic passing from carbon monoxide poisoning highlighted the need for stronger protections for Saskatchewan families.

The City of Melville encourages all residents to:
✅ Check that your carbon monoxide alarms are installed and working properly.
✅ Test alarms regularly and replace batteries as recommended.
✅ Replace alarms when they reach the end of their service life.

Protect your home. Protect your family. A working carbon monoxide alarm can save lives.

Home Maintenance Tip: Check Your Roof!

Loose or missing shingles may seem minor, but they can quickly lead to leaks, water damage, and costly repairs - especially after heavy wind or storms.

Take a few minutes to inspect your roof for:
• Missing shingles
• Curling or cracked shingles
• Loose flashing around vents and chimneys
• Debris buildup in valleys and gutters

Early detection can help prevent bigger problems down the road and protect your home investment.

When in doubt, contact a qualified home inspector or roofing professional for a closer look.
