First-time buyers looking at Burlington: here's one cost to plan for before you make an offer.
In September, the median townhouse or condo in Burlington sold for $670,000. That's down 8.2% from last year, and homes took 42 days to sell.
On a $670,000 home, Ontario's land transfer tax comes to about $9,875. It's due on closing day, and it can't go into your mortgage.
If you've never owned a home anywhere, you get up to $4,000 of that back as a first-time buyer refund. That brings it down to about $5,875. And unlike Toronto, Burlington doesn't add a second city tax on top.
Save this for later and send it to a friend who's saving for their first place.
