Our Sort & Simple team recently had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see how donated items are sorted, organized, and given a chance to be reused.

We learned that the Reuse Centre accepts around 250 different types of items and receives approximately two tons of reusable materials every day!

We even got to try sorting some items ourselves, and quickly learned how grouping like items together for donation makes it easier for the Reuse Centre team.

A big thank you to Krista, Liane, and the team at City of Edmonton Reuse Centre for having us and for all the amazing work you do to keep reusable items out of Edmonton's landfill!

Are you restoring an old home or renovating a new one?
We'd like to introduce you to Architectural Clearinghouse

This family business is "dedicated to salvaging, reclaiming, recycling and just plain old saving good building materials from being thrown into big dumpsters."

Super, right?!

They do not currently have a storefront but are actively collecting items and listing them online while they rebuild after a devastating fire last year.

Architectural Clearinghouse reclaims second-hand materials such as:
- windows
- doors
- lighting
- plumbing fixtures
- cabinetry

and helps them find a new home.

We LOVE seeing the interesting items they've been able to salvage through the years - from old fire doors to vintage light fixtures, and most recently the seats from Movies 12!
