FVREB municipalities sound of on density and TOD: Langley City Mayor, Nathan Pachal: “[We’re already] as transit oriented as can be. it’s not Metrotown, but Langley City is a compact 10 square kilometres with excellent transit service, arrayed around a walkable commercial district.” Surrey head of planning & development, Don Luymes: “If you’re looking for good examples of the missing middle form, you’ll find the highest concentration in the region among new developments in Surrey and other Valley communities.” Langley Township Mayor Eric Woodward: “We’re doing quite a bit of walkable development in anticipation of transit. Given what we remit in property taxes [towards TransLink], it’s galling to see the biggest current transit expenditure – the Broadway Line – is centred in the community that already has the best service in the region.”
