Glenbrooke North has been my home away from home for almost a quarter of a century. I grew up playing at the Royal City Curling Club, and one of the things I love most about the area is how stable and established the neighbourhood feels.
Glenbrooke North is predominantly made up of single-family homes, with pockets of higher-density housing along some of the main routes. Much of the neighbourhood has been here for decades, and the streets look almost exactly the same as they did when I started curling here in the early 2000s.
Change has slowly come to the neighbourhood. The təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre replaced the old Canada Games Pool, and there is some newer housing and construction. But much of that change has built on what was already here, updating the neighbourhood while keeping its established character.
I love this quiet neighbourhood. If you’re thinking about living in Glenbrooke North, I’m always happy to talk about an area that has been part of my life for nearly 25 years.
