🎃 Halloween is Saturday, and the daytime fun starts early 👻

🍬 From 12 to 4 on Saturday, October 31, Frightfully Fun brings trick or treating to local businesses in Beeton and Tottenham. Costumes on, kids in tow, and a great way to support the shops on Main Street.

🌾 Saturday is the last day of the Schomberg Scarecrows, free to wander around the village.

🎃 It is also the last weekend for the fall displays close to home, including the 12th Line Creepers just south of Alliston, with self-serve pumpkins, and Drysdale's Halloween and Harvest Village in Egbert, 10 to 4:30.

🎃 Saturday afternoon, Nikki's Halloween Madness on Lily Street in Beeton holds a kids day, animatronics off so littles can enjoy it without the scares. Please do not touch the decorations, and photos are encouraged. Food bank donations also accepted. Details are on the Facebook group nikkis halloween madness.

Then porch lights on for trick or treating at home, and clocks go back Sunday morning.

👻 Two nights of ghost stories in Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham 🎃

The free Ghost Walks of New Tecumseth run Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31, both at 8 p.m. No reservation needed, just show up.

🚶 Historic Alliston meets at the Museum on the Boyne, 250 Fletcher Crescent. The Alliston Business District walk meets at Victoria Street East and Centre Street.

🚶 In Beeton, meet at the Muddy Water Hotel, 25 Main Street West. In Tottenham, meet at Taste of Freedom Restaurant, 24 Mill Street West.

The walks are free and the stories are well researched local history with a spooky twist. A heads up that some stories are on the scarier side for younger kids.

Bring a flashlight, dress for the weather, and enjoy a haunted night close to home.

🎃 Halloween weekend is here in Beeton, Tottenham, Alliston and Schomberg 👻

Here is what is on from Friday through Sunday, October 30 to November 1:

👻 Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., the free Ghost Walks of New Tecumseth run in Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham. Just show up at your meeting spot, no booking needed.

🎃 Saturday from 12 to 4, Frightfully Fun brings afternoon trick or treating to local businesses in Beeton and Tottenham. Get the costumes out early.

🌾 Saturday is also the last day to catch the Schomberg Scarecrows around the village, free and self-guided.

🎃 And in Egbert, Drysdale's Halloween and Harvest Village has its final weekend, Saturday and Sunday 10 to 4:30, with pumpkin picking and the haunted wagon ride.

🕑 One practical note: clocks go back one hour early Sunday morning, November 1, so enjoy that extra hour of sleep.

👻 Saturday, October 24 is shaping up to be Alliston's big Halloween day 🎃

🍬 It starts downtown with the Monster Mash. Trick or treating runs from 2 to 4, and then Witches & Wonders keeps the evening going from 4 to 9, with a small market, themed activities and a window decorating contest where the public picks the winner.

🚶 The Ghost Walks of New Tecumseth also run Saturday at 4 and 7, starting from the Museum on the Boyne at 250 Fletcher Crescent. The walks are free, no booking needed, just show up and follow storyteller Sean, also known as Sean-the-Ripper, through the haunted corners of Alliston. A heads up that a few of the stories are on the scarier side for younger kids.

🔎 And if you would rather solve a mystery than hear about ghosts, the Museum on the Boyne hosts its Murder Mystery Night Out on Saturday from 6 to 8. Registration is through the Town of New Tecumseth.

🚂 All aboard the haunted train in Tottenham 🎃

This Friday and Saturday night, October 23 and 24, the South Simcoe Railway rolls out The Phantom Lantern, its Haunted Hallowe'en Adventure, and these are the railway's only night time excursions of the whole year.

Trains leave from the station on Mill Street West in downtown Tottenham. Passengers are encouraged to come in costume, there are prizes for the best children's and adults' costumes on each trip, and candy is handed out along the way. Fares are $10 to $18.

Book ahead through the railway, online or at (905) 936-5815, and confirm your departure time when you book. Night trains, fall colours and a few ghosts along the Beeton Creek Valley: that is a pretty good Friday night.

🎃 A few more ways to get out this weekend in Alliston and Schomberg 🍂

🎃 All weekend, Murphy's Farm Market & Bakery in Alliston has its Fall Festival, 9 to 5 on Simcoe Road 10, with wagon rides, the corn trail and the pumpkin patch. This is the final festival weekend of the season, and the market and bakery are worth the stop on their own.

🌾 And in Schomberg, the annual scarecrows are up around the village from now through October 31. It is a free, self-guided wander, with a map of the displays on the Schomberg Scarecrows website.

🗳️ One practical note for New Tecumseth neighbours: online voting in the municipal election stays open all weekend and closes at 8 p.m. on Monday, October 26, Election Day.
