Time is an unusual thing with grief. What can feel like an eternity can also feel like only a moment ago.
I hate putting a timeline on our journey because labelling it makes it feel like, with time, things become easier or that the grief somehow eases.
Somehow, it has been 7 years since I held Harper in my arms. 7 years of surviving without my daughter by my side. 7 years of heartbreak.
I still don’t know how any of this is real.
There is not a moment that goes by that I don’t think about you, Harper, and what life would be like if our reality was different.
My proudest achievement is being your dad. And like any proud dad, I am so incredibly proud of the impact you continue to have on the world every single day.
It doesn’t matter if it is 7 seconds, 7 months or 7 years without you by my side - the pain of losing you is immeasurable, just as the love I have for you is.
It is unfathomable to me that time keeps moving, yet I can still feel you on my shoulders. I can still hear your sweet giggle. I can still feel every sense of you right next to me.
I don’t know how I let go of you on this day 7 years ago, but you gave me the strength and continue to give me the strength to put one foot in front of the other.
I will never stop making sure your legacy shines and your magic is shared with the world.
The 24th of October will forever be my darkest day.
You are my light.
My life.
My love.
