Warm light, built into the walls.

This Rochedale bathroom was dark and dated: woodgrain-look tiles in the shower, dark floor tiles and two basins on mismatched cabinetry. The layout already worked, so we kept the footprint and changed everything else.

What went in:
- Large-format stone-look porcelain on the walls and floor
- A custom floating vanity with a fluted timber front and twin vessel basins
- Brushed brass tapware and a rail shower with a rain head
- Lit niches in the frameless shower and beside the freestanding bath
- Glass wall lights either side of the two arched mirrors

The owners had approached several builders before calling us. We booked a site visit promptly and set out a clear, detailed scope from the start.

- Slat ceiling: dropped, painted to the brand drawings and re-hung
- Feature wall: acoustic panels with red-lit niches
- Lighting: neon, track lights and pendants
- Floor: ground, polished and sealed concrete
- Outdoor dining: a red steel portal frame over the tables
- Street presence: black cladding and an illuminated roundel

Watch this shop transform. An empty tenancy in Coorparoo, now Dawg Boys: hot dogs, burgers, wings and beers.

The street front went from hoarding and bare walls to black cladding, a red steel portal frame over the outdoor tables and an illuminated Dawg Boys roundel. Inside, the dining room got a slat ceiling, a red feature wall with lit niches and a polished concrete floor.

14 weeks from start to open for trade.

Back to the frame, and back in time. This Brassall bathroom was stripped to the studs and rebuilt in a heritage style that suits the house.

What went in:
- Black wall tiles with patterned black-and-white floor tiles
- A freestanding black bathtub
- A pedestal basin
- Timber-framed door and window kept as features
- A white VJ panelled ceiling

Classic character on the surface, modern waterproofing and plumbing behind it.
