The media & life long property bears, would have you believe Australian property prices are going to keep falling. What people need to realise is, the bigger picture tells a different story.
Australia is already more than 124,000 homes behind its Housing target, with just 355,000 homes completed vs the 480,000 required to date.
The problem is simple: we’re not building enough houses to keep up with demand, and that gap continues to grow.
When demand consistently outstrips supply, it puts a floor under property prices over the long term.
I think we’re already seeing some of the more affordable areas bottom out, or close to it, while the wider market could find its bottom over the next 6–12 months.
If that plays out, the next property upswing could be one of the biggest wealth-building opportunities in years.
With AI creating uncertainty around future jobs, inflation eating away at purchasing power, and housing affordability getting worse, owning quality property and other hard assets is becoming increasingly important.
The reality is that we can’t keep building fewer homes than we need and expect prices to fall indefinitely.
The next property cycle could be a major opportunity for those who position themselves early. For many people, waiting too long could mean being priced out of the market indefinitely.
