📈 RBA Update

The Reserve Bank has announced another increase to interest rates, to 4.1% from 3.85% on 17th March 2026.

So, what does this mean if you own a home?

🏠 Higher Mortgage Repayments
If you're on a variable rate loan, your repayments will likely increase. Even small rate changes can add noticeable pressure to monthly budgets.

💰 Tighter Household Cash Flow
With more going towards repayments, there may be less flexibility for day-to-day spending, saving or lifestyle expenses.

📉 Impact on Borrowing Power
For those looking to refinance or upgrade, higher rates can reduce how much you're able to borrow.

🔍 Time to Review Your Loan
Now is a great opportunity to check in with your lender or broker to see if your interest rate is still competitive. There may be options to restructure to better suit your situation.

Rising rates can feel challenging. Staying informed and proactive is important. If you're unsure how this affects you, it might be worth having a chat with a professional to understand your options.

📈 RBA Rate Update

The Reserve Bank of Australia has lifted the cash rate up from 3.6% to 3.85%, the first move up we've seen in more than two years.

Why now?
Inflation started to creep back upwards towards the end of 2025.

What this means for you:
▪️ If you're on a variable rate, expect repayments to increase.

If you've got a mortgage, now's a good time to:
▪️ Check whether your interest rate is still competitive.
▪️ Run the numbers on what repayments would look like if there's one or two more hikes.
▪️Revisit your budget and make sure it's comfortable with a higher minimum repayment.

Not ideal, but not exactly a surprise.

📌 RBA Cuts Cash Rate to 3.6% – Here’s What That Means.

The Reserve Bank of Australia has cut the cash rate to 3.6%, marking the third rate drop this year.

The RBA made its move as inflation eased into its target range, with headline CPI at 2.1% and underlying inflation at 2.7%. Lowering inflation and a cooling job market have given them room to act.

With major banks like CBA and Westpac already confirming they'll pass on the cut, now could be a good time to:
▫️Review your current home loan.
▫️Consider locking in a competitive rate.
▫️Revisit your property plans while borrowing power is up.

Cash-strapped mortgage holders have received a welcome boost after the Reserve Bank of Australia cut the official cash rate, with governor Michele Bullock hinting at more help to come.
