Rich maroon paired with soft blush or a brighter pink feels warm, playful and a little luxurious. Think velvet bows, beautiful baubles, coloured candles and gift wrapping that becomes part of the decorating.

Before you go to town with decorations… get these five things right. 🎄

My top 5 Christmas tree hacks for a tree that looks full and sparkling before the first bauble goes on!

I was a visual merchandiser before I was a stylist, and I’ve styled more Christmas trees than I can count. These little details make such a difference.

1. Fluff every single branch
Yes, every one! Spread the little tips into a fan shape, pointing them in different directions. Start from the inside and work outwards to fill those gaps.

2. Tuck your lights into the branches
We want to see the sparkle, not a tangle of wires. Nestle the cable along the branches so it blends into the greenery.

3. Light your tree from the inside out
Don’t just wrap lights around the outside. Weave them towards the trunk and back out along the branches to create depth and a glow throughout.

4. Step back and check
Switch the lights on before decorating. Walk around your tree, check for dark patches and adjust any branches that need a little more fluffing. It’s much easier now than once the decorations are on!

5. Finish the base
A tree skirt or collar hides the stand and helps everything feel finished. Keep plugs and power boards uncovered and accessible, with plenty of space around the base for gifts.

Then comes the fun part—decorating it in whatever way feels festive for you and your family.

Remember, this is meant to be fun!

Your home doesn’t have to look like a magazine shoot. It needs to feel festive for you and your family. Whatever that looks like.

Maybe it’s a tree overflowing with colour and decorations the kids have made. Maybe it’s greenery, warm lights and a few treasured pieces. Or perhaps you love choosing a different colour palette each year.
