“We created Al Ghurair Collection to develop buildings that don't exist elsewhere. This is our city, and Dubai deserves more architecturally significant residences that add value to its skyline and to the people who choose to live here.”

- Sultan Al Ghurair

Zara Zara (ざらざら) is a Japanese onomatopoeia for a rough surface. Kengo Kuma uses the idea to describe how architecture is perceived: at one scale, the particles resolve into a single form, and at another, they separate into detail.

At Wedyan on Dubai Canal, this philosophy becomes material. The tower’s exterior façade is clad in panels with a rock surface of grains that produce variation, shadow, and a sense of permeability.

Architecture of this kind can be admired in both the distant view and the close one.

“Feeling nature beneath one’s feet,” Kengo Kuma says, “is vital.”

At Wedyan, the landscape is built so you can feel the earth beneath your feet, even on the higher floors. Stone, timber and planting palette chosen for the climate, placed so that grounding stays part of the altitude.

Earth, at height.

A new perspective on contemporary living.

With flowing architecture, layered landscaped terraces and uninterrupted views of Dubai’s iconic skyline, Wedyan is designed to bring nature and architecture into perfect harmony.

The Shore at Wedyan is a floor given to connection: the edge where water meets land, where people have always gathered for a good time.

On this level, the aquatic features lead with a lagoon pool to unwind, a canal lap pool for a morning swim, and a children's splash pool for the young to play. Around them, the life of Wedyan comes together: a club lounge, private dining area, social café, games room, cinema enclave, golf simulator, and a kids club. Spaces for residents of every age.

Among the world's most respected landscape architects, behind the Eiffel Tower Gardens in Paris, Aga Khan Centre Gardens in London and the Towada Art Center in Japan. At Wedyan, they merge the desert, the canal, and the flora into one continuous flow.

A high-rise that behaves like terrain.

The desert was Dubai’s first nature. Kengo Kuma says the skyline has become its second; and that the cities of the future will be the ones that learn to treat their towers as landscape, not as objects.

Wedyan is built to that idea: a vertical ecosystem that rises through the city while staying grounded in the earth. Climate, light and vegetation considered on every level.

An entire level given to self-care. The Cave at Wedyan returns to the oldest form of shelter: the hollow in the rock that cools, dims, and brings quietness. Here the elements arrive in sequence: water first, a gradual immersion pool opening to open-air bathing pools, to ease the mind; then heat, a traditional hammam with sauna and steam rooms, to detox and release; and finally cold, with an ice chamber, to awaken the body. Private treatment rooms receive your own therapist, and his-and-hers salon spaces complete a floor conceived around one idea - privacy.

The Japanese concept of Zure Zure (ずれずれ) invokes the principle of osmosis: a process of selective filtering, a surface that holds some things back and lets others through. The same principle lives in another Japanese word ‘komorebi’ (木漏れ日), which means the light that filters through the leaves of a tree, scattering into shifting columns of brightness and shade.

At Wedyan, komorebi and zure zure are written into the layered vertical screens at the ground floor. Light rays break through the gaps, and shadow follows while sounds are carried by the breeze. And so the world arrives filtered. Never the whole. Always the sifted.
