Remodeling spending is leveling off. Here's what that means if you're planning a project.
The Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University (July 2026 LIRA) projects U.S. homeowner spending on improvements and repairs to hold around $519 billion through mid-2027, with year-over-year growth slowing to about 0.5% by Q2 2027.
What we take from it:
→ This isn't a boom market, and it isn't a bust. It's a steady one.
→ A steady market rewards planning over rushing. Clear scope, realistic budgets, and permits lined up early still drive the outcome.
→ Interior projects (kitchens, baths, layout changes) can be planned this fall and winter so you're ready to move when you decide to.
