1. OKC weather is no joke so look at these details when you’re house hunting: Roof age/ condition, gutters, trees overhanging the house, sprinklers, storm shelter, and anticipated insurance costs
2. Don’t choose where to live based on the house alone. Every neighborhood and suburb have such different personalities.
3. Pay attention to school district boundaries (even if you don’t have kids). Just because a home has an OKC address doesn’t mean it’s in OKC Public Schools, and the same goes for surrounding suburbs. School districts don’t always follow city limits, so make sure you know which district a home is actually in before buying.
4. OKC is SO spread out. So if you don’t want to spend a lot of time in the car, choose your neighborhood based on where you’ll spend most of your time
5. Don’t judge OKC by what you’ve heard about Oklahoma. People who have never spent much time here often have a completely different picture of what the city is actually like.
I’ve lived in OKC for my entire life and love helping people find not just a house they love, but an area that fits their life. If you’re thinking about making the move to Oklahoma City, I’d love to help you get to know the city and find the perfect place here.
