Hunt House
Our house is on the market, but I will romanticize living here forever. For the past four and a half years, this 1892 Queen Anne Victorian house has influenced my daily life. It has dictated how I host parties, display artwork, and walk down stairs. As an architect, it has been a privilege to live within someone else's design from a very different time. I have fallen in love with the asymmetrical layouts that give you peeks into the next room, and the ornate details found in the fireplaces and woodwork that transport you into the past. I have become a collector of jars, vases, dishes, and serve ware. I have learned how to garden and experienced the deep joy of clipping fresh flowers from March through October. This house has demanded grand gestures in decor and taught me how to mix fun with formality. I will take these lessons with me to my next house, and beyond. Here's to designing more homes with gargoyles, witch's hat roofs, and formal perennial gardens!
