Prequalification and preapproval sound similar, but the depth of the lender’s review is different.

Prequalification is generally an initial estimate based on the financial information you provide. Preapproval involves a more detailed review of your credit and financial documents, making it the stronger step when you’re ready to submit an offer.

Lenders use these terms differently, so always ask what information was actually reviewed. Neither one represents final loan approval.

La precalificación y la preaprobación parecen similares, pero la profundidad de la evaluación del prestamista es diferente.

La precalificación generalmente es un cálculo inicial basado en la información financiera que proporcionas. La preaprobación incluye una revisión más detallada de tu crédito y tus documentos financieros, por lo que representa el paso más sólido cuando estás listo para presentar una oferta.
