When you purchased your home, your lender likely required a lender's title insurance policy. But that policy protects the lender, not you as the homeowner.
When you refinance, your original loan is paid off, and a new lender's title policy is typically issued for the new loan.
The good news? If you were provided an owner's title insurance policy when you bought your home, that coverage generally remains in place even after refinancing.
Title insurance can be confusing, but that's why I'm here!
