Save the date for Saturday, October 31st, and join us! The Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site is hosting the annual Cemetery Walking Tour at Gates Hill Cemetery from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., the guided walking tour begins at 10:15 a.m. During this free program, learn about this historic cemetery, founded in the mid-1800s as the main African American cemetery in Bonham, and the people interred here through select biographies of the deceased. Self-guided pamphlets will be provided. Also, enjoy complementary refreshments, courtesy of the Friends of Sam Rayburn. In the event of bad weather, this tour will occur on November 7th.

As I was looking for a vacation rental for ourselves, I was reminded of what makes Caney Acres a little different from the places I found. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make a big difference!

Did you know black cats have two special days each year just for them? 🐈‍⬛🐾

Black Cat Appreciation Day in August 🐾 and National Black Cat Day in October 🐾 Both celebrate black cats, help dispel the superstition that they bring bad luck, and encourage their adoption.

🐈‍⬛ Boo isn’t scary. He’s just a cat that hunts at night and lounges during the day.

Don’t be afraid of ghosts 👻 or black cats 🐈‍⬛ this October. 😂
