🏡 Florida homeowners: Amendment 3 has a NEW name and it could impact property owners across the state.
If you’ve heard people talking about the proposed “Save Our Homes from Excessive Property Taxes” amendment, you may notice something different when you vote this November.
That is no longer its official ballot title.
Amendment 3 is now called:
“Increased Homestead Exemption; Lower Cap on Increases in Non-Homestead Property Assessments.”
So what could it actually do if voters approve it?
🏠 Increase the homestead exemption for certain non-school property taxes to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028
🏢 Reduce the annual assessment increase cap on non-homestead property from 10% to 5%
📅 The changes would begin January 1, 2027
For homeowners, buyers, landlords and investors, this is one worth understanding before November.
Real estate isn’t only about the price of a home. Property taxes and changes to Florida law can affect the true cost of owning property, too.
I’ll keep sharing updates as we get closer to the election.
