Hidden homelessness is growing rapidly within the United States. Over 3.2 million individuals are experiencing hidden homelessness. A quarter of those are families with children. This is driven by an affordable housing crisis, inflation, and reduced support services across the U.S. Hidden homelessness is experienced by all ages, including older adults who live on a fixed income.

This month, we will talk about hidden homelessness and why it matters for those experiencing it, our community, and the organizations that provide support.

For 25 years, Nest has been here for neighbors facing their hardest nights, because this community decided no one should have to sleep out on the streets.

Today, we’re launching This Season, Be the Reason, our end-of-year fundraiser built on a simple idea: when our community gives, whether collectively through time or donations, lives change for the better for our neighbors in need.

Be the reason a guest has a warm, safe bed tonight.
Be the reason the lights stay on, and our doors stay open.
Be the reason someone gets a fresh start in the new year.

Here’s how you can be the reason:
- Give. Every gift counts, from $10 to $1,000. (See the link in the comments and in bio)
- Share. Over the coming weeks, you’ll see neighbors, volunteers, board members, and partners sharing why they support Nest. When you see someone you know, share their post.
- Invite someone in. Tell a friend why Nest matters to you.

We need your help! This holiday season, we want to share your "why." We want to share why you give, why you volunteer, why you sponsor, or why you partner with Nest.

Every warm bed, hot meal, and fresh start at Nest Community Shelter happens because people in our community choose to show up. Now we want to hear why you do.

We will be open this evening and are in need of supplies.

Staff will be available to receive donations after 5:30 pm tonight. To ensure we receive all donations, please drop them off between 5:30 pm and 7 am. Please do not leave any donations outside of the building.

We open this evening at 5:30 PM for the season. We are here to make sure that nobody spends the night out on the street. Will be open nightly beginning tonight through April 15 from 5:30 PM to 7 AM.
