As a proud member of Michigan Realtors, we have been given the following direction in clarification of The Governor’s Stay at Home Order.
In essence, we are not considered a critical infrastructure worker except for emergent need for shelter.
This evening, March 24, 2020, the Governor’s Office issued further guidance on real estate services under Executive Order 2020-21. The FAQ makes clear that real estate brokers and salespersons are not “critical infrastructure workers” and therefore may not leave their homes for work. The only narrow exception to the order is the instance where work is absolutely necessary to assist those with a genuine and emergent need, such as an immediate lack of shelter…
As for now, Michigan Realtors® current interpretation of Executive Order 2020-21 still stands. Real estate services, like the showing of homes and other property, open houses, and other client contact should be considered to be non-critical and travel to do so is prohibited through April 13, 2020. Willful violation of the Governor’s Order is a Misdemeanor. We have already received reports of law enforcement officers enforcing the Executive Order on the streets and establishing communications for the reporting of non-essential services that continue to operate.
For those Realtors® with clients with a scheduled closing in the next three weeks, we have been advised that a number of Michigan title companies and appraisers will continue to do business under the federal government’s general category for financial/insurance services and that closings will proceed. Realtors® should check with the specific title company/appraiser regarding its policy.
Real estate brokerages have the ability to participate in closings via conference calls or other video conferencing methods to comply with the Governor’s order…

Our physical locations are closed until April 13, 2020 (by appointment) or until otherwise given notice
We are OPEN 24-7 virtually by phone, email, text, Facebook Messenger, facetime and ZOOM.
Clients who are in active transaction, (under contract):
-Your closing is still in progress and we are carefully monitoring work towards the original contract dates. If either party is affected COVID-19 in anyway, please let us know, and we will explore specific options to your transaction.
-Most Mortgage Companies and Financial Institutions are open and working
-Our title companies are open and working
Current Sellers (On Market)
We are continuing to market your property! We are adding additional marketing efforts including increasing online presence, virtual/ 3d tours and direct mail. If there is interest in a LIVE virtual tour from a prospective buyer, we can coordinate a live tour (with your assistance) for your property. (Special circumstances require special efforts!).
Current Buyers (Actively Looking)
There are many options for viewing properties, many offer virtual tours and photos. We can possibly arrange a live virtual showing, if the seller offers it. In the meantime, we can continue to look online with you as new properties are coming online every day!
Property Management Services:
Owners, we will continue to manage your property according to your contract and will keep in constant touch with our tenants. If you are owner of a vacant property, we will monitor those properties to the best we are allowed by the order. Please contact us directly with specifics.
