BIG NEWS FOR WESTERN PARKER COUNTY!

Some important changes are coming that will help protect our groundwater as our area continues to grow.

The Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District has approved new well rules for the district, which includes Parker, Hood, Wise, and Montague counties.

Beginning January 1, 2027, new plats submitted in certain areas of western Parker County will require a minimum of five acres per water well instead of the current two-acre minimum. This applies in areas where the aquifer is 60 feet thick or less, which is shown in red on the updated map.

There were also changes made regarding high-volume wells and the groundwater study process, but the increase from two acres to five acres is the biggest change for our area.

Growth is coming whether we are ready for it or not, and protecting our groundwater has to remain a priority. This is a BIG step in the right direction for western Parker County and our future!
