Quick question for anyone who's helped a parent move 👇

What's the ONE thing you'd make sure goes in Mom or Dad's first-night box?

Ours: medicines, glasses, phone charger, and their own sheets. A familiar bed on night one makes a huge difference. 🛏️

We put together a simple 8-week senior moving checklist (pictured) for Memphis families. Save it for later, or share it with someone who needs it.

💬 Drop your answer below, or comment "CHECKLIST" and we'll message you an extended version.

🍂 Moving in Memphis this fall? Save this post. These 8 tips will make your move cheaper, faster, and a lot less stressful.

1️⃣ Book 2–3 weeks out. That gives you the best pick of dates without paying for last-minute scheduling.

2️⃣ Pick a weekday, mid-month if you can. Weekends and the first/last few days of the month fill up fastest because that's when most leases turn over.

3️⃣ Plan around the holidays. The week of Thanksgiving gets busy, and people leave town. If you're moving in November, lock in your date early.

4️⃣ Start early in the day. Daylight saving time ends November 1, and it gets dark before 5:30. A morning start means unloading in daylight.

5️⃣ Pack a rain kit. Memphis fall weather can turn quickly. Keep old towels, plastic bins, and floor runners by the door to protect your floors and belongings.

6️⃣ Clear the path. Rake wet leaves off the driveway and walkways the day before. They're slippery when you're carrying a dresser.

7️⃣ Set up utilities ahead of time. Call MLGW at least a week before so the lights and heat are on when you arrive. Update your address with USPS while you're at it.

8️⃣ Pack a "first night" box. Put sheets, toiletries, chargers, medications, snacks, and a few tools in one box and keep it with you, not on the truck.

Our crews are ready when you are. 🚚

💬 Which tip do you wish you'd known before your last move? Or tell us your best moving hack, and we might share it in a future post!

⚡ Team Spotlight: Desean Dockery — 5 Years Strong ⚡

This month we’re celebrating Desean Dockery and his 5 years with LightSpeed Moving & Storage!

Desean leads our long distance moves, and in 5 years he’s kept a perfect 5-star service record on every single move. That doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from showing up prepared, treating every home like it’s his own, and leading his crew with patience and pride.

This photo is from a recent move where Desean and the team moved one of our amazing clients all the way from Millington to Atlanta. Long distance moves come with a lot of moving pieces (literally), and having Desean in charge means our customers can relax knowing their belongings are in the best hands.

Desean, thank you for your leadership, your reliability, and for representing LightSpeed the right way for 5 years. We’re lucky to have you! 💛💙
