“Looks like Fred Flintstone’s Tupperware.” 😂

The things my husband says…

We’re finally in our new house, and I ordered a new dinnerware set. Simple enough, right? Apparently not. 🤣

First, Dexter thought I ordered 36 actual plates.
Then he was convinced the box weighed a million pounds.
Then when he finally opened it and saw what was inside… he compared my new dishes to Fred Flintstone’s Tupperware. 💀

Meanwhile, Beau was right there supervising like this was his business too.

Honestly, this is exactly what married life in a new house looks like over here.
New house, same married life. 🤍

Tell me the funniest thing your husband or wife has ever said, because I know I can’t be alone in this. 😂

I never thought I’d say this, but waking up to build moving boxes genuinely felt like CHRISTMAS MORNING. 😂🎄📦

We have our final approvals, which means after this veryyyyy long home-building journey… IT’S TIME TO PACK. 🥹🏡

There have been so many moments over the last couple of years where moving into this house felt so far away, so getting up this morning and realizing, “Wait… we’re actually packing now” feels completely surreal.

BRB packing our entire life. 😂📦

And don’t worry—the moving committee is already on duty. 🐾

WE PASSED FINAL!!! 🥹🏡

And because apparently building a house likes to humble you right up until the VERY end… I realized we were still missing our well-water testing before I could submit everything for our Certificate of Occupancy. 😂

The normal turnaround wasn’t going to work considering our movers are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, so I grabbed the testing kit, ran home, collected everything, drove it back and paid to expedite it.

Another $155? Sure. Why not. It’s Monopoly money over here at this point. 😂💸

But we should have our results quickly, and then hopefully this is IT.

After all the inspections, delays, decisions, phone calls, trips to the house, last-minute fixes and everything else that has gone into this build…

We are almost HOME. 🥹🤍

Final inspection. Cabinet hardware. Mirrors. Paint touch-ups. Landscaping. Organizing. Packing. And approximately 927 things I suddenly think need to be decided RIGHT NOW. 😅

Meanwhile, this is literally me sitting in the mudroom thinking…

CAN WE JUST MOVE IN ALREADY?! 😂

After more than two years of building, decisions, delays, store runs, changing my mind, changing it back, and watching this house slowly become our home… we are SO CLOSE. 🤍

I know someday I’ll probably miss the building process.

Today is not that day. 😂

Just give me the keys, an iced coffee, and permission to start moving boxes. 🏡☕️🤞

I’ve officially reached the stage of our new build where I’m willing to learn basically ANYTHING if it means getting us through our final inspection. 😂🔨

One of the things we needed to fix was the gap around our stair posts… so naturally I decided, how hard could it be?

Cue me borrowing my dad’s nail gun, asking him how to turn it on, figuring it out as I went, and somehow actually getting the job done. 😂

Well… we were supposed to move into our house tomorrow. 😭🏡

After more than two years of building, I genuinely thought yesterday was going to be the last big hurdle. All of our individual inspections had passed, the movers were scheduled, and for the first time it actually felt real.

Then we got the red REJECTED card.

I walked through some of the inspection items in this video because I was honestly surprised by how small some of them seemed compared to the consequence: we can’t move in yet.

Thankfully, they’re fixable. We’re working through the list, we’ll have it reinspected, and we’ve moved our move date to next week.

It’s frustrating because we can practically see the finish line from here. But if this build has taught us anything, it’s that plans change, things take longer than expected, and somehow you just keep figuring out the next step.

So… one more punch list. One more inspection. And hopefully VERY soon, one very overdue move-in day. 🤞🏼❤️

And yes, someday I will probably laugh about this part. Today is not that day. 😂

BIG new-build update! 🏡🤞🏼

Our fireplace inspection passed on Friday, which means we are officially scheduled for our FINAL home inspection TODAY!

It honestly still doesn’t feel real. After more than two years of building this house and everything that has gone into getting to this point, there’s a very real possibility we could be moving in this week… and I haven’t even started packing. 😂

I think I’ve been so focused on getting through each project and each inspection that my brain hasn’t caught up with the fact that we might actually be at the finish line.

So send us some good luck, say a little prayer, cross your fingers — whatever you’ve got. 🤞🏼🤍

Hopefully my next update is: WE PASSED. 🥹🏡

IT’S WEDDING DAY!!! 💍🤍🥂

Today we get to watch one of our favorite girls marry her person and we could not be more excited!! 🥹

The dresses are on, the ch*****ne is flowing, and we are SO ready to celebrate you two all day (and definitely all night 😉). 💃🏼✨

Here’s to all the happy tears, way too much dancing, and the beginning of forever. 🤍

Have you ever gone through your camera roll to delete pictures… and somehow lost an hour reliving your life instead? 😂🥹

I was trying to clear up storage when I found all of these videos from our new build this summer.

At first, I saw unfinished rooms, dirt, construction messes and about 5,000 projects that still needed to be finished. 😂

Then I started noticing what was happening in the background.

The kids running through their future home. Playing in the driveway. Watching Papa work. Making memories in rooms that didn’t even have everything installed yet.

For so long, the goal has been finish the house and finally move in.

But these videos reminded me that somewhere in the middle of building our dream home, it already became home. 🤍

Someday there will be grass instead of dirt, everything will finally have its place, and this crazy season of building a home in Brighton will be behind us.

And I have a feeling I’ll miss it more than I realize right now.

The summer we built our house… while our kids were busy making it home. 🏡🥹
