MEET WESTON JENKINS, FOUNDER OF DISABLED OUTDOORSMAN USA

For Weston Jenkins, spending time outdoors has always been part of life. But one childhood hunting trip with his cousin helped shape something that would eventually become a much bigger purpose.

Jenkins founded Disabled Outdoorsmen USA (DOUSA) in 2017, creating opportunities for people with disabilities to experience hunting, fishing, camping, Jeeping and other outdoor activities.

The inspiration was personal. His cousin TJ lived with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and found freedom, connection and a sense of possibility through time spent outdoors. Jenkins wanted to help other people experience that same feeling, regardless of their physical limitations.

Since then, DOUSA has grown into a national organization, helping hundreds of participants take part in outdoor adventures and building a network of volunteers, ranches and supporters along the way.

Now Jenkins is looking toward the future, with a goal of creating TJ Hope Ranch, an accessible outdoor destination where people with disabilities can fish, explore, relax and spend time in the outdoors.
