When I installed the Wildlife Sightings Tracker in The Sapling, I never considered how sad it would be to erase it when it was full! 🖍️

There have been some incredible sightings logged by guests over the past several weeks—from 60 elk at the Visitor Center to a black bear right in The Sapling's backyard! (In fairness, that sighting was mine!)

I snapped a photo to save this batch of memories before wiping the slate clean for my incoming fall guests. Here’s hoping the next several weeks bring just as much luck!

I finally hung this misty forest artwork in the primary bedroom at The Sapling, and I love how it pulls the room together. Combined with the warm glow from the antler lamps, muted blue walls, and ultra-cozy plaid, this space was crafted for pure, quiet rest after a full day of exploring the woods and spotting elk.

There’s nothing quite like kicking off your boots, sinking into a comfortable bed, and slowing down in the PA Wilds.

The story behind the spoons... 🍴✨

When I was choosing the decor for The Sapling back in 2019, my goal for the vibe was simple - create a space that feels safe, relaxed, and allows guests to have a great time.

When I saw these decorative wooden spoon and fork wall hangings - they instantly reminded me of the ones my Aunt Wendy had in her kitchen growing up.

Wendy was my sister's aunt, but she loved me just like her own. In her home, I always felt completely safe, relaxed, and happy (and I never left hungry!).

That exact feeling of warmth is what I want for everyone who steps into our space. Because of that memory, you’ll now find these wooden spoons and forks hanging in each of our 3 cabins.
They’re my little daily reminder of what true hospitality feels like.

Next time you’re sitting at an In The Sticks Cabins kitchen table, know that you’re surrounded by a lot of history—and a lot of heart.

So there I was telling this guy about my lovely, one-floor, low-threshold vacation cabins with king-sized beds, and he just turned and ran off.

I’m hoping he’s going directly to my website to make his reservation so he doesn’t pay any booking or cleaning fees.
