A quiet corner of the backyard at Havana Haven, our home in Fort Lauderdale. 🌴

Feedback Friday!

Eric stayed at Tails & Trails Hideaway and told us it’s the right place to get away and settle into some quiet time, with plenty to do within a short drive if you want more adventure.

The Georgia mountains are starting to turn, so this is a good time of year for either one.

Mountain Clarity in late October!

Hi, we’re Brandon and Katharina. We met in Atlanta a little over 10 years ago, and now it’s the four of us with Emmy and Leo. 👋

Brandon grew up in Iowa and played football. Katharina was born and raised in Germany. Right now we’re traveling around Italy with the kids, which is where these photos are from, and making a lot of memories along the way. 🇮🇹

Back home, Leo would spend every weekend at Cherry Log Summit if we let him. Fenced yard, hot tub, playground, game room, he’s covered. 🌲 Emmy will never say no to a beach trip, so her pick is always Havana Haven in Fort Lauderdale, with the heated pool and the beach a mile away. 🏖️

Mercier Orchards opens Apple U-Pick again this Friday, Oct 23, if you’re up in Blue Ridge for the weekend.

$8 a person gets you in and covers the tractor ride out to the trees. Kids 4 and under are free. They’ve been farming that land for more than 80 years and have over 40 kinds of apples, so there’s plenty to pick from.

You pay at the farm and it’s first come first served, so earlier is better! They also call it off when the weather’s bad, so check their page before you head over.

We’d grab a bag for the cabin! 🍎

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which makes it a full weekend in Blue Ridge.

Downtown usually hosts trick-or-treating along East Main Street, there are ghost tours in town, and local farms and vineyards throw costume parties of their own.

Then it’s back to the cabin, the firepit, and a scary movie.
