What if you could buy a home and take over the seller’s existing mortgage with an interest rate much lower than today’s available rates?

That’s the idea behind an assumable mortgage! With certain eligible loans, a qualified buyer may be able to take over the seller’s existing mortgage and its terms.

Yet this opportunity is often overlooked. Buyers may pursue new financing without ever asking whether the seller’s mortgage can be assumed.
