Butler County Homes with Healthy Children The Homes with Healthy Children program is a free home visitation service for children prenatal through 5 years old.

The Homes with Healthy Children (HHC) program is a free home visitation program that offers support and education to your family during pregnancy, after ther birth of your baby, and children up to age 5. Homes with Healthy Children helps to: *Promote child health and development. *Improve family coping skills and functioning. *Promote postitive parenting skills and family interactions. Why Homes with Healthy Children? Having a child is ajoy and a blessing. Children are the wold's most valuable resource. Parenting is the toughest, yet the most important job anyone will experience. All parentes need support and encouragement as they care for their children. Research indicates that the first five years are the most critical years of development. Home with Healthy Children assists families through changes that may occur during the prenatal stage all the way through the first five years. What does Homes with Healthy Children of Butler County provide? *Prenatal care to prepare for labor, delivery and baby. *Guidance in caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers needs. *Assessing growth and development. *Activities to encourage development. *Making sure your home is safe. *Maintaining your child's health and development. *Teaching appropriate behavior for your children/disciplinary issues. *Taking care of yourself as a parent and handling the stress of parenting. *Accessing medical services. *Accessing community services (WIC, FIP, Family Nest, PATS, Child Care, transportation, employment, etc) *Answers to your questions. Homes with Healthy Children is provided through colaberative efforts of Butler County Public Health, Together 4 Families, Empowerment, local health care clinics, hospitals, and other Humans Service Agencies. The HHC program emphasizes a family-centered approach to: promote optimal child health and development, improve family coping skills and functioning, promote positive parenting skills and interfamilial interactions, and prevent child abuse and neglect and infant mortality and morbidity.

Mission: The Homes with Healthy Children (HHC) program provides home visitation services to families of prenatal through age five children, so that parents and children are safe, healthy, nutured and intellectually stimulated. Therefore they will experience success in a host of family issues such as: health, development, school readiness, socialization, parent-child interaction, and family coping skills.

Child Passenger Safety Event

Butler County Public Health is hosting a Child Passenger Safety Event on Thursday, August 13th at the Emergency Services Building in Parkersburg from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on hand to check to make sure that child restraint systems are safe and appropriate for children to use. Some seats will be available if your child’s system is deemed unsafe or inappropriate. No appointments are necessary.
