“Allentown, Pa. — with a population of about 121,000 — has used tax-exempt revenue bonds in part to finance a retail, dining and commercial office center, including a 10,000-square-foot arena, after the exodus of big employers like Bethlehem Steel and Mack Trucks from the city. The development has since attracted several big-name businesses to downtown Allentown, including Leigh Valley Health Network and Bank of America Corp.”

Allentown's City Center donates over $4 million through Building Community program

“City Center and our affiliates believe we can make the greatest impact by concentrating our giving in
downtown Allentown, whether we’re supporting affordable housing, health, the homeless, the arts,
education or community development,” said CCIC President J.B. Reilly.

City Center Investment Corp., the real estate development company, said Tuesday it donated more than $4.3 million total to 123 organizations in 2018 through its Building Community program.
