When the Best Feng Shui Intervention Is No Intervention

Not every unusual feature needs to be fixed.

A condition can look unfavourable in isolation while the surrounding terrain, building position and wider structure are already doing the work.

Observation first. Judgement second. Intervention only when needed.

Before the Floor Plan, I Look at the Land

A floor plan tells me about the building. The terrain tells me what the building is sitting in.

Where does the land rise? Where does it fall? What supports the property? What opens around it? How does movement approach the site?

Same house. Different land. Different judgement.

When Does a Road Actually Matter in Feng Shui?

A road pointing toward a house is not enough information to make a Feng Shui judgement.

Direction, distance, relative level, speed, scale and surrounding terrain all change the relationship.

Don't judge the road in isolation. Judge the relationship.

Not every unusual property feature needs to be fixed.

For a New Zealand property, an element may look unfavourable in isolation while the surrounding land, building position and wider structure are already doing the necessary work.

So the first question is not:
“What remedy should we add?”

It is:
“Does this condition actually create a problem in the wider property relationship?”

Sometimes the correct intervention is no intervention.

Before I look at the floor plan, I look at the land.

For many New Zealand properties, the terrain is not a small background detail. It can change the assessment before the internal layout is considered.

I look at:
• where the land rises
• where it falls
• what supports the property
• what opens around the site
• how roads meet the land

Two houses can have very similar floor plans and still require very different Feng Shui judgements because the land around them is different.

For New Zealand properties, a road pointing toward a house is not a conclusion.

The same apparent road condition can change depending on:
• distance from the building
• whether the road is above, below or level with the site
• speed and scale
• the surrounding terrain

This matters particularly on sites with noticeable changes of level.

The road is a feature. The relationship determines the judgement.

Sometimes the Best Feng Shui Intervention Is No Intervention

Not every unusual feature in a property needs to be “fixed”.

Something may look unfavourable when viewed by itself, but the surrounding terrain, building position and overall structure may already be compensating for it.

In that situation, adding another remedy can be unnecessary.

A Feng Shui assessment should not begin with: “What should we add?”

Sometimes the better question is: “Is anything actually wrong here?”

Good judgement includes knowing when to leave the structure alone.

Sometimes silence means the structure is working.
