Whatever you do for a living, learn to build an investment portfolio.
Your income should not only fund your lifestyle today; a portion of it should be deliberately invested to secure your future.
You can start with a simple savings or investment plan and remain consistent. It could be through regulated investment platforms, mutual funds, bonds, or a properly structured cooperative where people pool resources to invest together.
You don't have to be a high-income earner to begin. Whether you're a teacher, entrepreneur, artisan, driver, or professional, you can start with what you have.
It requires discipline and sacrifice. Sometimes, you have to postpone certain pleasures today to create the financial freedom you want tomorrow.
One asset class I strongly recommend including in your portfolio is real estate.
Our parents and forebears understood this long before we began using the term “real estate investment.” They bought land, held it, built on it, or simply kept it as an asset. Over time, many of those properties became some of their most valuable possessions.
You can do the same today.
You don't have to start with millions. Start with what you can afford. Buy in a location with genuine growth potential, do your due diligence, seek proper guidance, and hold with patience.
Think beyond your income today. Think about where you want to be in the next 10, 20, or 30 years.
Don't just work for income. Work toward ownership.
Build assets that can continue to create value long after the income from your active work has stopped.
