About architecture in the Rennaisance.

The Cancelleria in Rome can be designated as the classical example of Renaissance unity in several parts. A stratification of three stories and a thoroughly self contained effect. No part could be altered without destroying the overall organism . (Wollflin on the principles of art history).

"Iron construction began with winter gardens and arcades—that is with genuine luxury establishment". Very quickly however it found it's true range of technical and industrial that had no precedent and were occasioned by true wholly new needs. Covered markets, railroad stations, exhibition halls.
Engineers led the way but poets as well displayed amazing foresight. Thus the French romantic Gautier declares: "A proper architecture will be created the moment we begin making use of the new material furnished by the new industry". The advent of cast iron enables and calls for many new forms as we can see in railroads terminals, suspension bridges and the arches of winter gardens" .

The painting is actually deep inside beyond the canvas shimerring in the distance. Under glittering clouds. The baroque at it's best : Strong oblique movement. Everything in the painting is moving. At the left handside a carriege drawn by an ox in a diagonal line is directing our eyes toward the painting within the painting. The clouds are moving in the same direction obliquely, reinforcing the moving carriage along the path.
A distant hay field .....This is one coherent painting There are different planes there are trees some figures in the fore ground but everything coalesce into one.

כששני הפרחחים הצעירים זכו בתחרות לתכנון מרכז פומפידו הם תפסו את עולם האדריכלות לא מוכן, ומי שהיה שם לא רק מופתע אלא בשוק היו הם שניהם: רנצו פיאנו וריצ'ארד רוג'רס. היה בבניין הזה מעשה קונדס....זה בניין שובב, חסר יראת כבוד לעולם האדריכלות הרצינית ונשואת הפנים, אבל למעשה היתה לו השפעה כמעט חסרת תקדים על הרבה ממה שאירע בעולם הזה שהוא אמור להיות רחב אבל הוא צר אפילו צר אופקים, של 2 אדריכלים שאין להם מה להפסיד.... אומץ זה דבר חשוב בארכיטקטורה , לקחת סיכונים, אבל הבניין גם הפך אותם לכאלה שיש להם מה להפסיד. חששות. וזה הפרדוקס או הקללה של לזכות בפרויקט חייך בעיקר כשאתה צעיר מאד ושלא בנית עדיין כלום. רוג'רס נפל בפח הזה, פיאנו לא.

ארכיטקטורה של הצהרות ........היא מסבירה לך , היא תופסת אותך בדש הבגד, כאילו היית מאותגר שכלית. רוג'רס מזכיר לי מרים משקלות שבכל תחרות הוא מוסיף לעצמו משקלות.

הפרויקט האחרון של ריצ'ארד רוג'רס שנבנה קצת לפני מותו בשנה שעברה. גלריה ביקב בדרום צרפת

הבניין של לוידס כבר איננו מרכז פומפידו השובב, אלא בניין של אדריכל חשוב שלוקח את עצמו ברצינות. כבד. מתיש.
