A new landlord register is coming. What do you need to know?
The new national registration service will introduce another legal requirement for private landlords in England.
But this is about more than putting your name on a register.
Landlords will be required to register each rental property, provide relevant property information and pay an annual registration fee of ÂŁ65 per property.
The government's published guidance also identifies safety documentation as part of the information landlords
should expect to provide.
Draft regulations include details such as the landlord's name, residential address, contact information, property
details and rent.
What about public access? Some information will eventually be accessible to tenants and the public, but exactly what will be visible has not yet been finalised. Not everything supplied to the register will necessarily be made public.
The North West rollout is scheduled for May 2027, so there is time to prepare sensibly.
For landlords in Lancaster and Morecambe, the practical question is straightforward: are your property records, certificates and compliance information properly organised?
