Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear work boots, carry toolboxes, drive utes and get their hands dirty.
On Friday, 6 November, something extraordinary is going to happen across the Central Coast.
While most of us go about our normal Friday, hundreds of local tradies and volunteers will be doing something remarkable.
They’ll be turning up at the homes of complete strangers.
Strangers who are struggling. Families doing it tough. Elderly residents living in conditions no one should have to endure. People who have simply run out of options.
And they’ll be there for one reason.
To make someone’s life a little better. ❤️
No expectation of payment. No expectation of anything in return.
Just good, hardworking people helping other people.
The vast majority of these incredible businesses will be giving up their day, their labour, their skills and, in many cases, their own materials and resources.
Think about that for a moment.
These are small business owners with mortgages, families, employees, bills and businesses to run.
They could be out earning money.
Instead, they’ve chosen to give something far more valuable. Their time.
And for the person on the receiving end, that generosity could mean a safe home, a working bathroom, a repaired roof, electricity restored or simply the feeling that somebody out there actually cares.
Sometimes, the smallest repair can make the biggest difference.
And sometimes, knowing you’re not forgotten can change everything.

We know we can’t help everyone this year. There are heartbreaking stories and families who desperately need assistance that we simply don’t have the trades, materials or funding to reach.
That’s the hardest part of Free Trade Day.
But because of these businesses, more than 100 homes across the Central Coast are expected to receive some much-needed love, care and attention.
And behind every one of those front doors is a story worth caring about.
